Cassie Benoist-Templeton was born in Galveston County, Texas, to two public servants—her mother was an elementary school special education staff member and her father was a deputy sheriff.
From an early age, she learned the value of serving the community and the importance of living a life in service to others.
Cassie came to San Marcos for college and graduated from Texas State University with a degree in criminal justice. She went on to earn her juris doctorate from Oklahoma City University and, shortly after graduation, joined the Caldwell County District Attorney’s office. She returned to Hays County, where she has lived permanently since 2012. She is married and the proud mother of two children.
For the past twelve years at the Caldwell County DA’s office, Cassie has prosecuted serious crimes against women and children. She has been honored to pursue justice on behalf of victims of heinous crimes. In 2024, she was recognized by the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, and in April 2025, she was honored by Roxanne’s House, a child advocacy center, for her ongoing contributions and dedication to service.

Cassie’s philosophy is simple: when someone interacts with the court system, it is often one of the hardest days of their life. Whether a victim, defendant, witness, or attorney, she believes every person must be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
She is committed to ensuring the law is applied evenly and in accordance with customary practice, and she pledges to serve as a judge who lives that philosophy every day.
